In 57 regular-season games with the Mets, Cespedes posted a.287/.337/.604 slash line with 17 home runs and 44 RBIs.

Now, they want the ultimate prize. It just seemed like, boy, we need a big hit here, and he hit a homer.

With his out-of-this-world performance, second baseman Murphy was playfully asked what planet was he from.

New York Mets starting pitchers Noah Syndergaard (34), Matt Harvey, center, and Jacob deGrom throw in the outfield during batting practice, Saturday, October 24, 2015, in New York. 265 (9-for-34) with two homers and seven RBIs.

“We all have a mission to win this last series”, said Matz, the Long Island lefty living out every boy’s wildest dreams after growing up a Mets fan about 50 miles from Citi Field.

On Monday he told Mike Vorkunov of the Newark Star-Ledger that he feels “one hundred and 10 percent”, but on Tuesday he wasn’t feeling as confident about the shoulder ailment.

The Royals, of course, have taken notice.

“Very rarely do you see somebody get this hot against average pitching”.

Cespedes suggested on Monday that he will still be playing golf throughout the remainder of the postseason, assuming his tweaked left shoulder remains in good condition, per ESPN. “Right now, it’s about our team and about winning”.

He becomes a free agent at the end of the postseason, raising the question of whether the Mets will ante up the long-term, lucrative contract the new slugger is likely to command.
