According to reports United flight 734 en route from San Francisco was coming in to land smoothly but the treacherous conditions made it impossible for the plane to slow down. “It was a normal landing”, said passenger Steven Billings. “I’ve flown 2 million miles and never see this before”, said Mr Dodge on the site.

Dodge said the plane came to a stop off the left-hand side of the runway and emergency vehicles were helping passengers off the plane.

A passenger on the plane, Don Dodge, tweeted that the plane was off the runway but no one was hurt. There are no reported injuries. He did not know how long the plane would be stuck off the runway.
