1-2 inches of rain forecast for Livingston County

County road department workers have been out since midnight monitoring the condition and placing barricades as needed.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Kankakee and Iroquois counties, and more than 45 other counties in central and southern IL, starting at 1 p.m. central time, and continuing through late Monday night.

Dan Thompson, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service White Lake Township substation in Oakland County, said the predicted 1-inch to 2 inches of rainfall remained in effect for Monday evening. This will be a very soaking rain that doesn’t let up until early morning Tuesday.

The Flash Flood Watch may need to be extended into the overnight hours and tomorrow depending on how much rain occurs today and any circulations and boundaries left behind to help focus additional storm development.
