1 billion iPhones sold
The first iPhone was unveiled by Steve Jobs in 2007 and nine years later it’s just got its one billionth sale.

Apple CEO Tim Cook speaks speaks about the new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus during a Special Event at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium September 9, 2015 in San Francisco, California.
“But I’m very optimistic about the future because I see so many signs that are positive”, Cook said on the call when discussing iPhone upgrade rates.
Samsung’s second-quarter smartphone shipments are estimated at about 72 million units, nearly doubling Apple’s iPhone shipments of 40.4 million units during the same period. The fact of the matter is that we can’t even believe it took so long for Apple to sell its billionth unit, but it happened, sometime last week, according to Apple’s CEO Tim Cook.
The quarterly results underscored the challenges for Apple, which has built a huge business around the iPhone but is unlikely to see continued growth, due to a saturated smartphone market and increased competition. While iPhone sales have been down for the last two quarters, the 1 billion milestone highlights what a successful product it is. “Thank you to everyone at Apple for helping change the world every day”.
But no one can question Apple’s long-lived success with the iPhone line.
Year 2016 hasn’t been the best one in Apple’s history, it recorded its first iPhone sales slump and then another.
CNET reported that Evan Blass, who the site said is a “known and generally reliable leaker”, tweeted Saturday that Apple will release the latest iPhone Sept. 16.
Apple’s sales rate in iPhones has undoubtedly been helped by the increase in iPhone sales in crucial markets, such as China. Android, of course, has passed a billion devices, but again that’s been split among a number of hardware makers.
Net sales dropped to $42.3 billion from $49.6 billion during the same period a year earlier.

Apple is presently well-prepared to face the outcomes of unraveling a less stellar iPhone 7 in few months to come. In June, Cook said that the fall arrival of iOS 10 will be “the mother of all releases”, but Llamas said the true test for Apple will be how well it executes its next software updates.
