1 dead, 1 critical but stable in NYC concert shooting
The incident occurred backstage at about 10:15 p.m.in the third floor green room area of the Irving Plaza music venue, New York City Chief of Manhattan Detectives William Aubry said. One of the male gunshot victims was pronounced dead at Beth Israel Hospital, according to ABC News. “We were clutching each other making sure no one was getting hit”. How the gun made its way into the venue, past the Irving Plaza’s metal detectors, is also unknown.

T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris, is one of the leading forces in trap music, a style of hip-hop from the US south that emphasizes aggressive lyricism and 1980s-style drum machines.
Concertgoer Elijah Rodriguez said he had been in the VIP area by the stage.
Shots rang out Wednesday night at a venue where rapper T.I. was getting ready to perform.
Video shot inside the venue showed a chaotic scene as concertgoers rushed to the sides trying to leave the area as a group of people tended to a person on the floor. The shooting is not believed to be connected to rapper TI, who left the green room before the shots were fired. Last March, two people were shot and injured in a Charlotte, North Carolina, nightclub where he was to perform.
A 33-year-old man was shot in the stomach, a 26-year-old woman was wounded in the leg, a 34-year-old man was shot in the chest, and a 30-year-old man was wounded in the leg, police said.
Police say they’ve obtained video that shows part of the fatal shooting inside a New York City concert venue.
He served seven months in prison in 2009 for attempting to buy unregistered machine guns from dealers who turned out to be undercover agents.
A Twitter user caught a short video of the ensuing confusion from the Irving Plaza balcony.
T.I. released his debut album in 2001 and became one of rap’s success stories on the pop charts, thanks to Top 10 hits such as “Bring ‘Em Out”, “Whatever You Like” and “Live Your Life” with Rihanna.
He has won three Grammy Awards including for the song “My Love”, a collaboration with pop star Justin Timberlake.

His last studio release was the EP “Da’ Nic”, which he released independently a year ago.
