1 dead, 4 wounded in Texas shooting

Two nearby but unrelated shooting incidents took place minutes apart police say, amid the crowded entertainment district of Austin, Texas, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Chief Manley added that as the shooting incident took place shortly after 2am U.S. time, officers arrived to a “very chaotic scene”.

Police said another victim had declined to be transported to hospital.

The scene in downtown Austin, Texas, where a gunman shot one woman dead and injured three others.

The location of the second shooting is not confirmed yet.

Witnesses describe him as a light-skinned black or Hispanic man in his 20s. Police say a man fired shots during an aggravated assault. As part of our efforts we urge anyone with personal video of the shooting or its aftermath to submit it via email to [email protected].

EMS officials had earlier said that “multiple incidents” had occurred in the E. 6th Street area.

Besides the fatally wounded victim, there were three other women that were injured and taken to the University Medical Center Brackenridge.

Austin police have identified Endicott McCray, 24, as a person of interest in the investigation of the shooting death of woman in Downtown Austin.

The suspect in that incident received non-life-threatening injuries, and was taken to a local hospital.

The police chief said officers were initially anxious “an individual. was engaging in active shooter tactics in the entertainment district”.

Officers said there had been “separate shootings within the same area” while the local ambulance service added that the shootings left “multiple patients with gunshot wounds”.

Once police arrived on the scene, they “located additional victims”, the spokesperson said.
