1 dead, 7 injured in Chelsea shooting Sunday

A 16-year-old Lynn boy has been charged with murder in the shooting death of a 19-year-old man at a pre-dawn impromptu party early yesterday morning in Chelsea.

Six other young men and women also suffered gunshot wounds.

Seven other victims were transported from the scene with injures that were not believed to be life-threatening, authorities said.

Neighbors to the apartment in the area of 120 Washington Street first called police around 2:40 a.m., the release said. All are expected to recover from their injuries, as is a seventh survivor who sustained minor injuries while fleeing the gunfire.

Villeda was taken to Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett, where he was pronounced dead.

Chelsea Police and State Police detectives assigned to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office are investigating the shootings.

Authorities are withholding the suspect’s name until Tuesday. “No further information is yet available on the surviving victims”.

The investigation is ongoing and investigators are asking with any information about the shooting to come forward.
