On Monday, October 17, three additional Absentee Vote Center locations will open.
“When you request an absentee ballot you also have to provide a copy of your photo ID card”, said Reid Magney a spokesman for the commission. This is the first presidential election where Minnesota voters can vote absentee without an excuse, as new voter laws were passed in 2014. Residents can apply for an absentee ballot online at www.MNvotes.org or in person at absentee voting locations. Those who qualify are now able to cast their ballots for the November election. A federal appeals court over the summer struck down several parts of a North Carolina law that not only required voters to show photo ID but also reduced early voting and eliminated same-day registration during the early voting period.
He explained that the term “inactive” refers to voters who have not participated in the last two election cycles, but are still eligible to vote.
Ballots were also sent out across the world on Friday, as USA citizens overseas and military personnel can begin turning in absentee ballots.
The Allen County Election Board issued more than 2,100 absentee ballots Friday, beginning the early voting process for the 2016 general election, which features races for USA president, congressional seats, and state and county races.
Virginia votes for November’s General Election could already be rolling in.
But an investigation by the Akron Beacon Journal finds that some of these voters have voted as recently as March and haven’t moved. Just go to: https://www.pavoterservices.state.pa.us/Pages/voterregistrationstatus.aspx and enter your name, date of birth and address and your registration status will be displayed.
“You want to make sure you do cast your vote, and you never know what’s going to happen between now and Election Day”, said Dan Press.
