Twitter user Lalitya Rangsit blasted the “heartless terrorists” who have dared to bomb the nation during their celebration of mother’s day.

“I saw eight to ten people injured, on the floor”.

Another blast was recorded in one of Thailand’s busiest resort city of Phuket.

There’s “no evidence” a series of bombings in Thailand are related to worldwide terrorism, says Deputy Police Spokesman Maj. Gen. Piyapan Pingmuang said at a news conference Friday.

But the generals have been unable to quell a festering Islamic insurgency in the three most southern provinces – almost 1000 kilometres away from Hua Hin. One Thai man was lightly wounded in Patong, police said.

Edwin Wiek shared photos online of a pot, and the remnants of a cellphone, spotted at the scene.

On Friday morning at least six explosions occurred in three locations. Thai police have accused two ethnic Uighur Muslims for the August 17, 2015, attack.

One explosive device was then defused by police in Phuket.

Police believe that explosion was related to a local dispute.

The explosions occured about about 650 feet (200 meters) from each other, and were around 30 minutes apart, Chanmornoi said.

Surat Thani Police stations were targeted, with a blast in front of the maritime police station, and another in front of a provincial police station. More than 15 people were also wounded and some were reportedly left in a serious condition. And two bombs exploded outside a market in Phang Na, damaging two vehicles but causing no casualties. No one was injured.

According to local police, the bombs went off outside bars near the Hua Hin’s main intersection.

A leaked document from Thai Special Branch police showed it had been warned by Russia’s Federal Security Service that the unsafe group of radicalized men snuck into Thailand between October 15 and October 31 of a year ago. “We have set up checkpoints and are searching bags”.

Many of the Friday blasts occurred near seaside resorts – but in the morning, before crowds would have gathered to soak up the sun. “As most of the victims were foreigners, it is a possibility that foreigners were the target of the bombs”, he said.

It was not clear who was behind the attacks, but police said the violence was not linked to Islamic terrorism.

Hua Hin is a popular upscale Thai resort south of Bangkok and many people will have gone there for the holiday weekend. The city is home to many worldwide hotel chains, including the Marriott, Hilton and Hyatt.

The incident took place on the eve of the birthday of Queen Sirikit in a town where she and King Bhumibol Adulyadej maintain a summer palace.

The palace is located less than a mile (about 2 kilometers) from the bombing site.
