The driver, identified as 25-year-old Adacia Avery Chambers of Stillwater, is likely to make her initial appearance in Payne County District Court on Monday, local police said in a statement. Under Oklahoma law, second-degree murder charges are warranted when someone conducts an act that’s “imminently unsafe to another person” but does so without premeditation. Ten of those 12, according to Stillwater police, were age 10 or younger – kids watching a parade with their families and friends before perhaps heading to the Cowboys’ football game, suddenly being rushed to hospitals instead.
“It was just a great remembrance that you never know that life can be fleeting really quickly”, Fallin said. It is possible one of the injured may die, so the number of second-degree murder charges may be upgraded. He also said he was the first person to tell Chambers four people were killed.
On Monday, Thomas filed that affidavit of probable cause in court and filed a motion asking for a two week extension to let the investigation continue and the toxicology report to be finished.
“I just want people to know that Adacia is a kind, loving, caring person and she wouldn’t have done this purposely”, the father said.
“Her poor performance” on that test led officers to believe she was “impaired”, he said. Leo, who was standing next to me, wasn’t standing next to me. The only time she spoke was to say “yes” when the judge asked if she could hear her.
Chambers’ father, Floyd Chambers of Oologah, told The Oklahoman he couldn’t believe his daughter was involved and said she was not an alcoholic.
“This is so out of character”, Branstetter said.
“I called my counselors who have answered the call with plane crashes and everything else we’ve gone through since 2000”, Bird said.
“I was not satisfied that I was communicating with a competent individual”. She is a sophomore at OSU, as well as a school employee, and was one of the 47 people who were hospitalized after the incident. He also said her boyfriend, Jesse Gaylord, reported Chambers had tried to harm herself in the past. Gaylord noted that he and Chambers are not frequent drinkers, saying that the last time he can remember having a drink was at his birthday earlier this month, when they each had a beer.
She arrived at the restaurant around 9 a.m. and her attorney says she left work an hour later, around 10 a.m. “She doesn’t ever run yellow lights”, he said. “Stay strong.” Anthea Lewis had tears in her eyes as she placed a child’s hat with an Oklahoma State University logo at the base of the memorial.
But he and others close to Chambers said they are in shock that she was behind the horrific incident, which killed a 2-year-old along with three adults.
On Monday, the Oklahoma medical examiner’s office identified the boy killed in the crash as two-year-old Nash Lucas.
