Police this morning released a photo of Rahami, a 28-year-old Afghan immigrant and USA citizen, wanted for questioning in the bombings that rocked a Manhattan neighborhood and a New Jersey shore town.

Ahmad Khan Rahami, 28 year old male, is being sought in connection with the Chelsea bombing.

Bomb technicians from the FBI, Union County and New Jersey State Police responded to the scene.

Many heard the explosion in the early Monday morning hours in the area near the Elizabeth train station where it was reported earlier that a suspicious package was found to possibly contain a pipe bomb.

The FBI described Rahami as about 5 foot 6 inches tall and approximately 200 pounds with brown hair, brown eyes, and brown facial hair.

Investigators this morning are swarming a chicken restaurant and apartment here in connection with the hunt for Rahami, Elizabeth Mayor Christian Bollwage told the Herald.

NJ Transit services were suspended between Newark Liberty Airport and Elizabeth, and Amtrak trains to New Jersey were being held at New York Penn Station. An explosion rocked one of the most fashionable neighborhoods of NY on September 17 night, injuring 29 people, one seriously, a week after America’s financial capital marked the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. On late Saturday a pressure cooker bomb exploded in Manhattan’s Chelsea district, wounding 29 people.

Earlier that day a pipe bomb went off in a trash can on the route of a Marine Corps run before it began on Saturday morning in Seaside Park, New Jersey, causing no injuries but forcing the race’s cancellation.

The bomb was found in a bin in Elizabeth, New Jersey. They grew concerned after spotting wires and a pipe in the bag, and alerted police, who confirm there was no cell phone or timing device found, according to CNN.

As authorities reassessed how to handle the other four devices, NJ Transit service on the lines remains closed.

Bollwage also said police were reviewing surveillance from a nearby bar.

The explosion happened in Chelsea, Manhattan, on Saturday.

It is unclear what relation, if any, the makeshift bombs have to each other; authorities continue to investigate.

He says residents and local business owners should also cooperate with police and report any suspicious activity.

Moments earlier, Governor Andrew Cuomo told NY1 the bombing was the “textbook definition of terrorism” but noted semantics have been in play as investigators work to determine if there is a direct link to a foreign terror organization.
