1 person dead in collision of New Jersey buses
Two buses collided in Newark, New Jersey leaving at least one person dead, New York-based WABC reported. The driver of the No. 59 bus traveling north on Broad St. T-boned the No. 13 bus traveling westbound with 20 people on board, according to fire officials. A woman, who was a passenger in that bus and who was among seven people critically injured, died later Friday, said Katherine Carter, a spokeswoman for the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Photos from the intersection of North Broad Street and Raymond Boulevard, where the crash occurred, showed one bus was almost broken in half. The public transportation system announced delays on social media after the accident.
Christopher Trucillo, police chief of NJ Transit, expressed his condolences to the family of the decreased driver of the No. 59 bus, a longtime employee of the agency.
All of the passengers had been removed from the No. 13 bus by about 7 a.m.
“We were there before anybody was on the scene”, Petrain said.
Investigators were trying to determine if Barthelus ran a red light, Baraka said. Newark Mayor Ras Baraka said the cause of the accident is under investigation.
