10 killed in roadside bombing in Afghanistan

Al Jazeera’s Jennifer Glasse, reporting from Kabul, said that the attack happened just before 7pm, when many people were breaking their Ramadan fast. The attacker was believed to have been driving a three-wheeled motorcycle at the time of the explosion.

No group or individual has yet claimed responsibility for the blast but Afghan officials often blame the Taliban militant group for such incidents.

Four other Afghans and two police were wounded when a police vehicle hit the roadside bomb in Kunduz city on Sunday, provincial police spokesman Sayed Sarwar Husseini told AFP.

Mohammad Hussain Sanjari, head of the provincial council of Kapisa, said the wounded civilians were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Khan says foreign troops have blocked off all access to the area where the attack happened.

Pentagon officials referred comment to North Atlantic Treaty Organisation authorities in Afghanistan.

Khost province is on the border with Pakistan. Sediqi said Afghan intelligence officials provided information to US forces, who carried out the strike.

In 2009, a suicide bomber inside Chapman killed seven Central Intelligence Agency officers and contractors. Camp Chapman is located nearby, and still houses American soldiers.
