The award-winning venue was re-vamped in March, and has prepared a summer-long series of events.

London Fire Brigade said that they had sent around 100 firefighters in 15 fire engines to deal with the blaze which broke out at 11.43am.

More on this as it comes in.

An eyewitness has taken a photograph of what appears to be the Studio 338 bar on fire.

Fire crews were called to blaze, which has spread to a recycling yard and industrial units, in Tunnel Avenue shortly before noon.

The fire has already closed roads nearby due to smoke travelling across the carriageways.

Ambulances are also at the scene, although it is not known if there are any injuries.

The Metropolitan police confirmed officers were on the scene assisting with the incident. An industrial warehouse is completely alight.

Crews from East Greenwich, Greenwich, Plumstead, Eltham, Deptford, Lewisham, Poplar, Whitechapel and Bethnal Green are now in attendance.

The Brigade also said: “Some gas cylinders are involved in the fire and as cylinders can explode when exposed to heat a safety cordon has been set up”.
