A Washington woman celebrated her 108th birthday – and set a record – at Saturday night’s baseball game at Seattle’s Safeco Field.

The Seattle Mariners are inviting centenarian Evelyn Jones to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at Saturday’s game against the Los Angeles Angels, proving you’re never too old to participate in America’s favorite pastime.
Jones’ toss broke the previous record held by 105-year-old Agnes McKee who threw out the first pitch at a Padres game last summer.
Jones was born July 11, 1907, in the central Washington town of Leahy, the Mariners said.
A 108-year-old Mariners fan isn’t letting her age slow down her enthusiasm for her hometown team.
Jones now resides at the Fairwinds-Brittany Park retirement community in Woodinville, where she decks out in her Mariners gear and watches every game on TV, according to the team. She graduated from high school in nearby Brewster in 1925 and attended one year of college at Cheney Normal School, now known as Eastern Washington University.
She was assisted onto the field by her 84-year-old daughter and two of her grandchildren.
Jones credits her long life to eating lots of beef and vegetables, regular exercise, and drinking alcohol only on Saturdays.
