A roller coaster carriage at a theme park in Scotland came off its rails on Sunday and fell on a children’s ride below, the Daily Record newspaper reported.

Eyewitnesses said the Tsunami ride at the Motherwell amusement park had been full when it came off the track.

It’s not the first time emergency response teams have been called to the park.

They had no details of casualties.

Millerick said he was shaken after witnessing a number of people trapped in the derailed vehicle after the crash. M&D did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The Tsunami just came off the rails at M&Ds.

Photographs taken at the park showed emergency services and members of the public attempting to rescue people from underneath an upturned carriage.

They added: “A serious incident occurred at M&D’s today involving the tsunami rollercoaster”.

Tsunami is Scotland’s only inverted rollercoaster.

On Facebook, she said: “Literally got off the Tsunami at M&Ds and then walking past and the next lot of people get on and the full thing goes off the tracks”.

“Honestly never been so scared in my life”.

It reaches speeds of up to 40 miles-per-hour, barrelling through corkscrew twists and loops. “It’s like something out of a horror film, children crying and everything”.

One spectator tweeted: “Tsunami roller coaster has left the tracks and crashed to the ground at M&Ds emergency services here attending so shocked”.

One eyewitness has described the moment a group of dads were trying to tip the rollercoster carriage over to get access to the kids who were trapped inside. Children under 10 are not allowed on the ride, the website says.
