The idea is if you have a HDR-compatible telly and a console that supports HDR, you’ll get visuals that are more realistic, strikingly vivid and truer to the way the human eye sees the real world. For now the only way to experience Gears of War 4 in HDR is to buy the Xbox One S. Beyond being able to pause, play, skip, and shuffle from the Quick Menu, the section will also recommend playlists based on the game being played. Since the announcement of the PS4 Pro Square Enix has revealed that the game will be getting an update that will feature “overall resolution increased, aliasing reduced, reflective surfaces improved, and more detailed lighting effects implemented”.

The latest firmware update for the PlayStation 4 is about to go live online, and marks the first update since the PS4 Pro and PS4 Slim were announced.

Next up is a new music item to the PS4’s Quick Menu.

HDR support isn’t the only thing this patch is bringing with it, and Sony has detailed a handful of new features in Patch 4.0 over on the PlayStation Blog. You’ll be able to download the update the next time you turn your console on. Modding has been something that has been a part of PC gaming culture for a long time and console gamers were excited when it looked like that might start heading to Xbox and PlayStation respectively. Some of the updates that will feature on the PS4 Pro include: 1080p streaming for Share Play, 1080P streaming for Remote Play, 1080p 30/60fps live broadcasting on Youtube, High Dynamic Range (HDR) and 1080p 30fps live broadcasting on Twitch.

The general feeling is that true HDR requires a HDMI 2.0 output, which we all know isn’t possible since the PS4 uses HDMI 1.4. You can transfer games, user info, and saved data.

For those who’re looking to upgrade their PS4, Sony says that you can transfer data over a wired LAN.
