The Canadian men have been absent in recent years despite the fact that the EA Sports game is developed in suburban Vancouver.

The video game developer said Thursday the six Canadians, six Mexicans and a Spanish player had to be removed from the game because of the risk of losing their college eligibility.

EA went on saying that they believe that the NCAA’s decision denies the 13 athletes to embody their countries in the game. Plus, members can instantly expand their gaming library with The Vault, a growing collection of EA’s best Xbox One games such as “Battlefield 4”, “Titanfall”, “Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare”, “Dragon Age: Inquisition” and more which they can play as much as they want.

Including the women’s side of the game had been grounds for celebration. Quoting what was written in the NCAA website about Amateurism: The NCAA membership has adopted amateurism rules to ensure the students’ priority remains on obtaining a quality educational experience and that all of student-athletes are competing equitably.

Buchanan, a junior at West Virginia, was over the moon when news of the women’s inclusion was initially announced in late May. And in the end, NCAA and EA Sports lost from that case when a United States federal judge approved a $60-million settlement for college athletes in a class-action lawsuit filed against them.
