15 travel-related Zika cases in Indiana — CDC
USA health authorities yesterday issued a travel warning for the Wynwood district alone, while the Norwegian recommendation covers the entire city of Miami in the U.S. southern state of Florida.

On Monday, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued an advisory that pregnant women should not travel to the area of Miami.
MS health and science experts say it’s still unlikely that the state will see local transmission of the Zika virus, as has been reported in Florida.
At least one neighborhood in Miami has been identified by the Florida Department of Health as a place where Zika is being spread by mosquitos, instead of by travel. Of these, 12 are men and 2 are women. “And it can bite four or five people at once so it spreads the disease rapidly”. Rosemary Jean said her father, Gabriel, is one of them.
He had already spoken with a doctor and was advised to wear long shirts and trousers outdoors.
Almost every state is reporting cases of the virus; only Idaho, South Dakota, Wyoming and Alaska have not reported it. “In addition, all individuals traveling to areas where Zika virus transmission is occurring should take steps to avoid mosquito bites”.
On Friday, Florida agricultural officials immediately announced more aggressive mosquito-control efforts, and Florida politicians rushed to assure tourists it’s still safe to visit the state.
“Following today’s announcement, I have requested that the Centers for Disease Control activate their emergency response team to assist (the Department of Health) in their investigation, research and sample collection efforts”, Scott said.
The state, as of Tuesday morning, had recorded 14 cases of people being infected by mosquito bites in Florida, with the virus believed to have been transmitted in a small area north of downtown Miami. The CDC said mosquitoes in the area might be growing resistant to pesticides.
“It’s not like a big thing right?” said 25-year-old Davidson. “It’s kind of freaky”. “It’s kind of freaky – there’s so much going on we didn’t know, didn’t really think about it. I might wear bug spray going forward”. The global outbreak has led to more than 1,800 serious defects.
The agency said that pregnant women who live in or traveled to the affected area after June 15 be tested for Zika.
Zika virus symptoms can be something of a mystery, with the disease imitating a number of other less serious diseases and sometimes masking the very unsafe effects it can have on pregnant women.
The American Red Cross released a statement on its efforts to combat the spread of Zika Virus.
Other doctors around the country are being even more cautious than the CDC. If tests come back positive, the CDC recommends getting plenty of rest, preventing dehydration by drinking fluids, taking a fever reducer like acetaminophen, and abstaining from sex and travel. Guadeloupe has almost 25,500 cases, including 343 pregnant women.
Federal health officials did not outline the team’s specific duties, but said its members would work with Florida health officials to determine their needs and how best to use federal resources. He said it was based on the nation’s ability to contain previous outbreaks of other diseases carried by the same mosquito.
For that reason, the report calls on states to make these long-acting contraceptives more widely available, especially to sexually active teenagers, whose use of less reliable contraception, condoms, is spotty.
Health officials have been trying to eliminate mosquitoes in the Wynwood neighborhood for weeks, but a “moderately high” number were still there Monday, Frieden says.

“This is an unusual neighborhood, or an emerging neighborhood”, Frieden said.
