Wreaths Across America’s convoy made a stop in CT on Tuesday as it makes its rounds across the nation.
Last year, 168 companies delivered more than 300 loads of wreaths to locations across the US, and a total of approximately 901,000 wreaths were placed on veterans’ graves.
This will be the 25th year for the wreath-laying tradition.
Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, are held at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as over 1,100 additional locations in all 50 US states, at sea, and 24 national veteran cemeteries on foreign soil.

Carrying roughly 5,000 wreaths per truck, it takes 60 trucks to deliver enough wreaths for Arlington National Cemetery, and the drive from ME to Virginia is considered the world’s largest veterans’ parade.
Senator Bruce Ennis, Chair of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee, said he looks forward to the event each year and explained why it’s so significant.
As much as Kyle believes in Wreaths Across America’s mission, she admitted, she’d rather not have to do what’s next, visiting her husband’s grave in East Austin.
“Delivering over 1.2 million wreaths is a massive undertaking that couldn’t be done without the trucking industry”, said Glynn Spangenberg, senior vice president/general manager of MacroPoint.
Following the ceremony, cadets and senior members from the Rexburg Jack Layton and Pocatello Composite Squadrons of the Civil Air Patrol will lay wreaths to honor our nation’s veterans.

“We get a lot of donations at this time of year that will go toward next year and that truly does help”, Papathesis said. The organizers want to be sure veterans in transitional care and mental health parts of the hospital who are unable to attend get a chance to see the wreaths.
