18 million watch GOP debate — Nielsen
“He’s going to have a hard time because he’s not told the truth about his position in the past on legalization”, Rubio (Fla.) told reporters after a town hall here.

“Leadership is not about attacking people, and disparaging people”.
Rubio never said in the debate whether he still sees citizenship as an eventual possibility. Bush, on the other hand, is knowledgeable, but comes across as whiny and mad at Trump for taking his candy.
“Now, Marco Rubio is a friend of mine, he’s a wonderful communicator, he’s a charming individual, he’s very well-liked in Washington”. Back in 2013, Rubio joined with a bipartisan group of senators to write the comprehensive immigration reform bill, which passed the Senate and then died in the House. “If my amendment were adopted, this bill would pass”, Cruz also said. He declined to say what he would do with the estimated 11 million immigrants in the country illegally, but accused Rubio of joining with Democrats to support “amnesty”.
But in a dramatic shift, Trump abandoned attacks on Cruz’s demeanor when asked to justify them in Las Vegas.
“I think he probably did what he needed to do”, Axelrod said, adding that it didn’t hurt that few of the candidates to Trump’s right and left were “eager to tangle” with the front-runner. When the moderator, CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, asked Jeb Bush about his description of Trump as “unhinged”, the Donald was surprisingly low energy: “Jeb doesn’t really believe I’m unhinged”. “I thought it was very unfair that virtually the entire early portion of the [undercard] debate was Trump this, Trump that, in order to get ratings, I guess”.
“That will make people think”.
Trump slammed CNN, calling the news station “unprofessional” for asking candidates in both the undercard and main debate to confront comments he’s made.
That brought a rebuke from Bush, who was more aggressive in this debate than he had been in the past. “He made that clear and he made both on the floor and off the floor”, McCain said Thursday. “It makes no sense to suggest this”.
Bush interrupted. Trump interrupted him.
“Bush’s mentions had been faltering in previous debates”, Terry said.
“Leadership is not about attacking people and disparaging people, leadership is about creating a serious strategy to deal with the threat of our time”.
He took direct aim at Donald Trump too.
Later, Trump was also rebuked by Sen. “Are you going to change the Constitution?” Trump more or less stood with them, noting his opposition to the Iraq War.
Nine Republican candidates took the stage last night in the fifth debate of this primary cycle. The people that have been killed. It’s not like we had victory.
“That is exactly what President Obama has said”. Rubio hit Cruz for supporting a reduction in US surveillance capability. According to Reagan’s son, Michael, Trump is winning over many followers because “he speaks from his own passion”. “What do we have now?”
Cruz reiterated that didn’t mean he supported other aspects of the bill. Cruz began his opening statement by saying “America is at war”. “And he’d be a chaos president”. “Of course not”, Cruz said.
“It sounds like you wanted the bill to pass”, Baier said. The establishment doesn’t grasp the frustration of Americans who are sick of being told “no” and given all kinds of reasons – from many Republicans, no less – that we can’t do anything to stop Obama.
All of it was a strong, but unwitting, tribute to the political power of terrorism itself.
Red ties have become increasingly popular among the candidates since the first debate, when only three of them wore red.
“We are now at a time when we need more tools, not less tools”, Rubio said. Rand Paul’s attacks weren’t particularly effective in ways that would strip Trump of votes. I think you actually have a brain and the ability to use it. I think you have the ability to listen to different opinions and decide what’s best for you, your family, and your country. “They’re not happy about it, believe me, and they don’t like me very much at that point”. Well, Sessions and Lee come from two of the reddest states in the country and neither one has presidential ambitions. Many of them demonstrate this same lack of confidence in selling conservative ideas when they repeatedly urge the party to tack to the middle in national elections to win moderate voters instead of passionately articulating Reagan conservatism and energizing (and expanding) the base. The most notable moment might have been Sen.
