As per information Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate S.P. S. Laler said there were some aspects which were required to be probed further in the matter and “the objective of investigation was to unearth true facts and CBI may do all that is required to achieve that goal”.

Ms Kaur had also filed another plea, seeking the court ” s permission and time to enable her to provide additional information regarding witnesses quoted in the final report of the Central Bureau of Investigation.

Verma, in his statement, told the CBI that Tytler had tried to influence one of the witnesses by giving him a hefty sum of money and promising to settle his son overseas.

The court also directed CBI to record the statement of other witnesses in the case.

The main case pertains to riots at Gurudwara Pulbangash in north Delhi where three people were killed on November 1, 1984, a day after the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The riot victims have filed a protest petition against the clean chit given thrice to Tytler by CBI, claiming there was ample evidence to prosecute him and accused the agency of favouring him.

The phone number of Narinder Singh is available on court record which CBI can collect, the court said.

Verma’s statement is based on what Mr. Tytler had told him during a meeting in August or September in 2008.

The CBI had filed another closure report on 24 December, 2014, saying there was not sufficient evidence to proceed against Tytler.

“Thus CBI can and should investigate the allegation of inducement to witness Surinder Singh Granthi in this very case and no separate FIR is required to be registered or ordered to be registered in this regard”, it said.
