Police said there were no signs of “foul play”, but an investigation into the events leading up to Chyna’s death are ongoing, according to the statement.
According to CNN, police were notified by a friend who went to check on Laurer and found her unresponsive. Police are apparently considering an overdose as a possible cause of death due to Chyna’s history with drug abuse. Laurer’s manager told KABC that she took medication for anxiety and sleep deprivation, but he didn’t know if that contributed to her death.
The 13-minute video showed her discussing her dreams to set up a fresh food business. It’s a heartbreaking shocker for Chyna’ s followers and the fans of WWE, as her legacy marks Chyna as the most celebrated women champion of the wrestling franchise. The wrestler battled female and male competitors-including defeating Jeff Jarrett in 1999 to become the first and only woman to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
Her body was discovered by a friend who had been trying to get hold of her on the phone for several days.
Police say the 46-year-old Laurer was dead when officers arrived.
Chyna’s death was mourned by WWE’s CBO Stephanie McMahon, who tweeted about the unexpected death of the WWE legend. An autopsy was planned in the next few days. She soon became an icon within the wrestling world and famously teamed up with Triple H. Chyna was also the first woman to enter the Royal Rumble.
She parted ways with WWE in 2001 and featured on several reality shows, including The Surreal Life, My Fair Brady and Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew on VH1.
