News 18’s Krista Henery will fly to Washington D.C. with the group Monday morning.
50 veterans returned to Utah this weekend after the Honor Flight sponsored a trip for them to visit Washington D.C. and view memorials erected in memory of their service.
More than 70 female veterans and their guardians are making a special trip to our nation’s capitol with Honor Flight Tri-State on Tuesday.
Ninety-one-year-old participant Dorothy Kist, who was a Navy radio operator during World War II, said she hoped to see the memorial for military women at Arlington National Cemetery.
Women on the flight took part in several wars, from Vietnam, to Desert Storm, WWII, and more.
They left from CVG at 7:00 a.m. following a ceremonial sendoff and all wearing pink shirts.
A total of 150 people will be on the US Airways chartered flight. “We are proud to assist Honor Flight Tri-State in hosting the first all-female Honor Flight in the country”, said Candace McGraw, chief executive officer, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky global Airport. Each female veteran is accompanied by a guardian, many of whom are younger veterans.

Honor Flight is a national program, but locally 2,500 veterans have traveled with the group.
