1st Saturday Box Office Report

Despite bad reviews, Rajinikanth-starrer “Kabali” has made a whopping box office collections of Rs.100 crore wordwide in just 2 days of its release in 12,000 screens.

Its premiere in the U.S. grossed the highest collections in history for any Indian film, shattering even the record of “Bahubali”, not to speak of Salman Khan’s “Sultan”. So, Kabali is expected to collect around Rs 57 Crore on its third day in India.

The Tamil language film, which released worldwide on Friday amid much fan frenzy, has earned Rs 100 crore from theatres in Tamil Nadu itself.

However the Hindi dubbed version of the film has been sold for Rs 35 crores, and after the film’s release, it has got mixed to negative reviews thanks to a predictable plot and average direction! A lot of records are waiting to be broken till the final report of Kabali 3 day box office collection is out! With the film grossing almost $2.9 million in the U.S. alone on its opening day and including the film’s collections from across the world, everybody thought that Kabali would easily collect close to 100 crores gross on its opening day.

Malaysia’s Film Censorship Board (LPF) chairman Abdul Halim Abdul Hamid confirmed on Sunday (July 24) that Malaysians would see a different ending for the Tamil film “Kabali” unlike their fellow fans elsewhere in the world.

Since Kabali is based in Malaysia, which has a large Tamil origin population, anxious authorities must be concerned that the film may give them the wrong kind of message that they may seek to follow and affect racial relations between communities. Otherwise, the result might upset a lot of distributors who bet big on this film. Aftermath the rage of Salman Khan’s “Sultan”, it time for Rajinikanth’s “Kabali” to shatter the walls.
