Two brothers accused of murdering Nykea Aldridge, a cousin of National Basketball Association star Dwyane Wade, are expected to appear in court today.

Aldridge, 32, was hit by stray bullets as she pushed her newborn in a stroller after enrolling one of her children in school, WLS-TV reported.
“It’s easy after the fact to say: ‘If I were king of the forest, I would never have let these two guys out, ‘” said Jeffrey Butts, a professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in NY who studies the effectiveness of criminal justice programs.
Chicago has been experiencing a major uptick in gun violence this year, largely centered on a few South and West Side neighborhoods, after years of declines.
Police say Derren Sorrells was on his daily break from an electric monitoring bracelet at the time of the shooting.
Aldridge was shot dead on Friday afternoon while pushing her 3-week-old child in a stroller in South Side, Chicago. “This tragedy isn’t just noteworthy because Miss Aldridge has a famous family member”. Chicago authorities have said more than half of the guns used in crimes come from out of state, including about 20 percent from Indiana. “It’s noteworthy because these two offenders are the prime examples of. repeat gun offenders who don’t care who they shoot”. According to the Chicago Tribune, over 2,700 people have been shot in the city so far this year, only about 250 shy of the total for all of 2015. After news of his cousin’s death, he labeled the incident “senseless”.

“We are now in a very, very sensitive grieving place”, she said while holding her sobbing sister Diana. Wade tweeted again on Saturday, saying, “RIP Nykea Aldridge”.
