2 dead, 2 missing after northeast Ohio house explosion
The father was found near the rear of the home in Northfield, Ohio.

A neighbor says he heard a loud explosion and ran outside to find flames shooting 30-feet into the air.
Three investigators from the Ohio Fire Marshal’s office were combing through the wreckage, Risko said.

January 12, 2016: Authorities have confirmed that a couple and two children were killed in a Northfield Center Township house explosion. He said firefighters battled the fire from the outside for 35 minutes before going in to search for the family, who were believed to be inside the home when the house caught fire. The family’s other daughter remained missing early Tuesday.
The adult victims were identified Tuesday as Northfield Center Township residents Jeffrey and Cynthia Mather. “The mother was with the two children, the girls and she was kind of hovering over them the two children kind of like she was protecting them”, Risko said.
He told Cleveland.com: “There was a lot of fire, a lot of debris”.
“The KidsLink family is deeply saddened by the loss of our fellow co-worker”, Mullen said January 12. Then he, his son and another neighbor went inside and yelled for the family, but no one answered.
A lot questions surround why no one inside was able to escape the fire. It was very eerie…. we were yelling and nothing. We just looking everywhere’.
Nickschinski’s daughter, Danielle, said she had baby-sat for the two girls. “They always wanted to play”.

It’s unclear what caused the explosion.
