According to the Chicago Tribune, police spokesman Lt. Carter Larry released details during a news briefing following the shooting.
The incident caused a soft lockdown, from about 10 AM to 10:50 AM; at Bolingbrook High School, Jane Addams Middle School, Independence Elementary School, and Oak View Elementary School.
Three employees were at the scene at the time of the shooting and one of them was killed, Larry said. Police would not confirm if the other person killed was also an employee.
However, it wasn’t immediately clear exactly where the shooting occurred.
The lockdown was at the request of Bolingbrook police only as a precautionary measure. However, the weapon was recovered from the scene.
As of 11 a.m., the lockdowns were over and classes had resumed, according to a statement on the district’s website.
