According to law enforcement officials in Salem, one of the women was seen lying in a puddle while holding her child above her head.

Officers said the women were barely able to stand, and were not able to care for infants.

Lecolst and Giordano were both released on bail and are scheduled to appear in court on October 31. Both were charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

“He was approached by another customer who said he saw two intoxicated women in the parking lot and that they both had infants with them”, Salem Police Department’s Captain Joel Dolan said.

The infants were given to family members. “It took over three hours to process them, which is an extremely long amount of time to process someone”, Dolan said.

Two women were arrested Monday evening after a police officer found them highly intoxicated – one lying in a puddle – with their newborn infants in tow.

Capt Dolan said one of the women was ordered by an officer to stop nursing her baby for fear that the alcohol in her system would adversely affect the child.

Both Lecolst and Giordano were processed and released on personal recognizance bail.
