Authorities say the teens were pulled out by the current.
They were part of a group of four, but two other boys made it back.
The Beach Hazard Statement is in effect till 11 p.m. Thursday, September 1.
A group of four boys were swimming at about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Holland State Park in MI when the area was swept by strong currents.
Two of the boys were able to make it to the rocks near the north pier.
The department has identified the missing boys as 14-year-old Vincent Green and 17-year-old Christopher Mimis, both of the Holland area.
Officials said two of the teens manged to get out of the water but the victims went under and did not resurface. There were risky swimming conditions at the lakeshore all day, with high waves and rip currents.

Ottawa County Sheriff’s Captain John Wolffis says the waters will be choppier this afternoon. The boys were not wearing life jackets.
