A 2-year-old USA boy has died after police say he accidently shot himself with a gun his father left on a bed.

2-year-old boy killed in accidental shooting in Acworth home Tuesday evening.
“Right now, all we know is that the child was left unattended and got a hold of the handgun”, said Acworth police officer Youlanda Leverette.
Local news outlets report the shooting happened Tuesday night at a home in the state of Georgia.
Police say there are no charges being filed at this time and they are still in the preliminary stages of the investigation. The child’s dad and brother, 4, were home at the time of the shooting, yet not the mother.

She said this was a sobering reminder to everyone to put weapons away, to use gun locks and to keep weapons out of the reach of children. Police are not identifying the family until other relatives can be notified.
