2017 iPhone to Feature “Jaw-Dropping Design”, No Bezels, OLED Display

Recently I wrote about how the iPhone 7 would possibly be nearly identical in design to that of the 6S, and there seems to be a consensus between reviewers and critics alike about this. The flexible OLED display will allow for an edge-to-edge display, which will partly be manufactured by Samsung.

While the next iPhone generation is out there for the concepts only, it could be a great redesign overhaul.

During the most recent episode of John Gruber’s The Talk Show podcast, the well-connected blogger dropped a number of tantalizing tidbits about what we may expect to see from Apple’s 2017 iPhone, a device likely to be called the iPhone 7s or, depending on who you ask, the iPhone 8. It’s been rumoured that Apple would build Touch ID into the screen and that Apple would switch to OLED displays, which would remove the need for backlighting.

“What I’m saying is that I’ve heard this independently and [Apple] is completely getting rid of the chin and forehead of the phone”, Gruber said, according to MacRumors.

“The front-facing camera will somehow be embedded in the display, the speaker, everything”. In fact, he describes the 2017 iPhone as a “jaw-dropping, wow” design that will be “astounding” and feature an edge-to-edge display.

In addition to covering the entire front of the iPhone with a screen (no bezel, no black bars on the top and bottom) Apple will reportedly embed all of the other hardware under the display. This suggestion seems that the previous rumor on a 5.8 inch AMOLED display iPhone could have nothing in common.

Besides the main suggestion on the display, iPhone 2017 is rumored with glass shell, wireless charging, and facial recognition.

If these rumors are true, then the iPhone 7, that is due to release this September may not be able to match the excitement for the 2017 variant.

The iPhone 2017 will be something that Steve Jobs would approve of. The late CEO unveiled the first ever iPhone in 2007 and if the rumors are anything to go by, Apple does not plan to spare any expense in the release of the phone.
