Kejriwal shared his vehicle with transport minister Gopal Rai and PWD minister Satyendra Jain. But this odd is in favour of the environment as Delhi government’s odd-even formula to check pollution levels in the capital and the NCR started on January 1.

He said that “today’s focus will largely be on educating people about the scheme. Whenever pollution levels spike, this is used as a weapon to combat it”, Mr. Kejriwal said. “The plan seems to have been successful”, he said. “Today there were fewer cars and nobody tried to edge me off the road, which happens daily”.

Kejriwal also said that the movement will be re-assessed after January 15, “This will go on till January 15”.

The first prosecution for violating Delhi government’s odd-even scheme took place at ITO junction about 33 minutes after the restrictions became operational at 8 am on Friday, PTI reports from New Delhi.

Rai who took a bus ride to take stock of the situation on the roads said “only odd-numbered cars were seen on the road yesterday while today only even numbered cars are visible”.

Later in the day, Kejriwal tweeted, “John Lennon “You may say I’m a dreamer But I’m not the only 1 I hope some day you’ll join us And the world will be as one” #IamWithOddEven”.

There were no police barricades near the Delhi-Noida border in the morning and the volunteers tried to ensure a smooth flow of traffic on the road.

The odd-even policy has many exemptions including two-wheelers, which number in lakhs, cars driven by women, emergency vehicles and a string of VIPs. Echoing his views, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia said Delhi has made its own mission and the government is merely assisting the people. Similarly, Delhi tourism minister Kapil Mishra reached the Secretariat riding his two-wheeler.
