20th Century Fox Working On Remake Of Clue
Now the ball is in a new court as Tracking Board reports that 20th Century Fox has signed on to produce a Clue remake that may well be quite different from the 1985 original. It was part of a six-year deal with Hasbro that Universal had at the time. However, The Tracking Board notes that it is not clear if Verbinski will remain involved with the project. Hasbro didn’t walk away from the remake, however, but instead moved forward with developing the idea with Pirates of the Carribean director Gore Verbinski and his shingle, Blind Wink.

But Hasbro is seemingly determined to remake “Clue”.
Back in 1949, the Clue board game (which was originally called Cluedo in England) introduced players to a mystery game that prompted them to deduce which character had committed a murder within the rooms of a mansion, in addition to guessing which weapon was used in the attack. The film was shot with three possible endings, which were presented in succession on the home video release.

Over 30 years ago, Paramount Pictures grabbed Clue off the shelf and turned the Parker Brothers board game into a cult comedy starring Tim Curry, Madeline Kahn, Eileen Brennan, Christopher Lloyd, Michael McKean, Martin Mull, and Lesley Ann Warren. Clue is a better fit for a movie than any of those titles, so I guess it makes a certain amount of sense to make another. It’s unclear yet who will be directing or writing the new take on the game.
