“Surely if you match more winning balls then you win more money”.
Match 5: Estimated £1,000.

Mr Keenan, who suffers with a number of serious health problems, took his mobility scooter to the post office in Llanishen, north Cardiff, yesterday after discovering he had matched five numbers in the draw.
The winning Lotto numbers were 14, 21, 42, 35, 07 and 41, so presumably there’s a lot of very sad 41 and 42-year-olds with birthdays in mid-July out there today.
The National Lottery organiser Camelot explained that there was an extraordinarily high number of people who managed to pick the winning numbers because they were multiples of seven – and that’s a popular number.
Conor King added: “Match 5 numbers with odds of over 1 in 144,000…”
This Saturday players of the National Lottery have the chance to win a jackpot of £28.2 million. “As a result, extremely rare events like this do happen”, said a spokesman.
The winning numbers were 38, 32, 37, 9, 17, 19 and 1. They are the only prizes on Lotto that are fixed.

For those in the Match 3 field, there was a bigger pot of £2,855,800 available, the Telegraph reported. However, because there were an unprecedented 4,000-plus Match 5 winners – so around 80 times higher than the usual 50 or so winners that we would normally expect to see for the Match 5 prize tier – they had to share this amount of money.
