24-hour subways signal new era for London, night owls
Night Tube is being patrolled by 300 Transport Police officers in high-visability jackets riding the network like NY cops as a sign of safety and security.

The Night Tube is seen as a boost for revellers, tourists and shift workers, who on Friday and Saturday nights will now be able to travel on the network at any chosen hour.
Transport for London (TfL) says London’s night-time economy will open up to a host of new opportunities, with the Night Tube supporting around 2,000 permanent jobs and boosting the capital’s economy by more than 100 million US dollars a year.
Speaking as the first Night Tube train on the Victoria line made its way towards north London, Mr Khan told the Press Association: “You can feel the buzz, you can feel the vibe”.
Those on board the first Night Tube welcomed the new service.
The night tube service is set to start this weekend, with services on the Central and Victoria lines pulling all-nighters, followed by the Northern, Jubilee and Piccadilly lines in the autumn.
The Night Tube has been launched in the London Underground – nearly three years since the plan was first announced. It expects the Night Tube to directly add £42 million a year to the value of London night-time economy by 2029.
“When I see the enthusiasm from employers in London, investors to London, tourists in London, about the Night Tube, it’s surprising it’s taken us this long to get it”.
Which renders the whole Night Tube thing pretty useless.
London will join NY as a city that never sleeps Friday when the capital’s famous underground introduces its first ever Night Tube services.
Passengers pass an advert for the night tube on a platform at Oxford Circus underground (tube) station, in London, Wednesday August 17, 2016.
“For us, it may mean more flexible start and finish times for shows, special late-night events and easier journeys home for our audiences and staff”, he said.
London has billed itself as being a global city, the biggest financial center in the world and a hub of creativity to rival that of New York City.
London Underground (LU) estimates that 200,000 people will use the Night Tube each weekend once it has been opened on all five lines. Victoria Line services will run the length of the line. There is a network of night buses available – but they often run behind schedule, and are far slower than the “Tube”.

But within years, London was running an all-night service each New Year’s Eve. Transport – the Night Tubes and busses – is one critical component.
