22 passengers and two crew members were taken to the hospital for evaluation. His laptop nearly hit the ceiling and several other passengers hit their heads, including a flight attendant in the galley during the incident. “Hit her head on ceiling and completely dislodged the panel”.
“It was frightening for a moment but it was worrisome for the flight attendant who was injured”, said passenger Douglas Domingo-Foraste.
WClear-air turbulence can occur during changes in atmospheric pressure, or when the plane interacts with fast-moving air currents called jet streams.
One passenger, Derek Lindahl, chronicled part of his experience on Twitter, mentioning that a woman in front of him had no seat belt on and was at least two feet off her seat.
“People were floating”, Rhonda Lynam, a passenger from Pebble Beach, Calif., told ABC News.

“People were flying all over the place”, Lee said. “All of the sudden, it was as if you’re on an elevator, 50 stories high, and it goes out of control. It was just normal – if you fly a lot…it just kind of shakes and then it’s okay”, one passenger of Flight 429 told South Dakota Public Broadcasting Station 429. The plane was traveling from Boston to Sacramento but made an emergency landing in Rapid City. Rhonda Renee had to ” literally grab her out of the air” and push her to her seat.
