26 killed in one week U.S. storms
The storms shredded several buildings along its path northeast of the Dallas suburbs, injuring multiple people, including a family trapped inside a gas station at about 7 p.m., according to local reports.

Authorities say at least four people were killed during an outbreak of severe storms in Garland, TX.
There is significant damage in Garland, Dallas County Emergency Manager Clay Jenkins said.
The National Weather Service says there were 11 preliminary tornado reports across North Texas, although officials will survey the damage over the next several days to determine an official count. Officials said the full extent of damage would not be known until Sunday morning.
“It’s still a very active scene, and I have not been out there”, Mr Harn said.
“All I heard was the roaring of the tornado, and my mom told us to get in the bathroom”, McMillian said.
Other parts of the state were dealing with other types of hard winds and precipitation, the weather service said.
The tornado’s trajectory was taking it toward downtown Dallas, but WFAA television said that it appeared to have lifted off the ground as it moved north.
Citizens photos have captured powerful tornados taking place all around the Dallas area.

Inmates from an Alabama correctional facility were evacuated as a precaution to potential flooding caused by the recent heavy rainfall. A spokesman for the department could not be immediately reached.
US post-holiday travelers can expect a mix of stormy weather this weekend, with blizzard conditions in New Mexico and western Texas, while flooding rain hits the southern plains from south Texas through in, forecasters said.
On Friday, parts of MS remained under a flood warning. In 1990, Elba was almost destroyed when the old levee around the town broke.
A statement from the governor’s office said that about 190 roads across Alabama were closed due to flooding.
The levee protecting the city is 44 feet tall.
One large tornado reportedly touched land in MS and tore a path more than 100 miles long to Tennessee.
In addition to the death toll, there was also brutal destruction of local homes and infrastructure.
Mississippi Emergency Management Agency spokesman Greg Flynn confirms two bodies were found Saturday morning in Benton County. Two people were transported to hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. We’ll have updates from both on this page once we learn further details.
The deaths from severe weather were not limited to the South. That includes eight people who were killed in automobile accidents in Garland at Interstate 30 and George Bush Turnpike.
Tornadoes and severe thunderstorms pounded North Texas over several hours early Saturday evening.
In Mississippi, officials reported that 56 people had been injured and more than 400 houses destroyed or damaged in storms.
Emergency officials issued a voluntary evacuation order for the flood-prone community.
