Fire Chief says a mother and daughter were found dead inside a home that exploded Monday night.

Neighbors in the area were shaken up after the explosion, saying they saw a bright light and heard a big boom.

Police are investigating what was originally regarded as a natural gas explosion Monday evening in the suburban home, 25 miles from Cleveland, although representatives of Dominion Gas, the local energy company, said they did not believe a gas leak sparked the blast.

Nickschinski’s daughter, Danielle, told Cleveland.com she had babysat for the family’s two girls.

The family dog made it out of the home alive, authorities said. “There was no trace of a gas explosion but that’ll be checked out with the state fire marshals”. Nickschinski, his son and another neighbor went inside and yelled for the family, but no one answered.

Risko said this is his first deadly fire in the 25 years he has been with the department. We were yelling and nothing.

If something is obviously wrong, like sparks or flames, you should evacuate the house immediately, warn others nearby and then call 911 from a safe location. “We were just looking everywhere”.

“They were very outgoing and nice”, she said.
