Scooter turned 30 last March 26 and celebrated in his home in Mansfield, Texas with his owner Gail Floyd.

Scooter claims the title from previous record holder 26-year-old Corduroy of Sisters, Oregon. She thinks his busy mind along with new experiences keep him young.

MANSFIELD, Texas — A Siamese cat born during President Ronald Reagans administration has been named by Guinness World Records as the worlds oldest living cat. Even though she’s doubled the average cat lifespan of 15 years she’s still as playful and active as a kitten.

His name is Scooter, and he’s the oldest cat alive.

A 30-year-old cat from Texas was officially given the distinction of being the “Oldest living cat” on Monday.

However, this record-breaking cat’s life has not been without pitfalls.

Scooter isn’t Guinness World Records’ oldest cat of all time though. I mean, I assume that’s Scooter’s secret to longevity since those are my cat’s hobbies.

“He likes to see new places and he likes people”, Floyd said.

He has been undergoing tests and treatment ever since, but that does not stop him enjoying having a blow dry after a bath or dining on his favourite food of chicken, a treat he gets served every other day. That mark belongs to a fellow Texan, Crème Puff of Austin, who lived to be 38.
