33 killed, 28 injured as crowded bus veers off Nepal highway

Aug 15, 2016- Thirty-three people were killed when a passenger bus met with an accident at Birtadeurali in Kavre district on Monday, Home Ministry confirmed.

The accident happened when the bus went off the road and fell almost 500 feet, according to the Global Times.

Among those brought to Kathmandu, 18 are admitted to the Trauma Centre while 10 are undergoing treatment in the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital.

At least 33 people have died and 28 others were injured when an overcrowded bus veered off a mountain road in Nepal.

After dropping the injured in Kathmandu, the helicopter flew to the incident site again to rescue other people. According to reports, the bus was going towards Madankudari of Kavre district from Kathmandu city when the mishap occurred at around 1 pm.

Prime Minister Prachanda directed concerned stakeholders including the government bodies to intensify rescue mission. The accident site is 50 Km away from Dhulikhel.
