Two years after its unveiling to the world – and also receiving a name change in the process – Sony confirmed at the 2016 Game Developers Conference a price and launch window for PlayStation VR.

The PlayStation VR is a headset device that will provide its users with a new dimension to the already immersive virtual reality.

It’s worth reiterating that the PlayStation Camera is required for the VR experience but the Move motion controllers aren’t (you can just use the PS4’s DualShock controllers).
As for why the base package doesn’t include the camera, PlayStation president of Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida said many PS4 owners already own the camera.
Sony has also said that the units of the PlayStation VR launch bundle available for pre-orders will be limited.
Pre-orders for the PlayStation VR, Sony’s upcoming virtual reality headset, have sold out on Amazon within 10 minutes of becoming available.
It’s also worth noting that as of now, the launch bundle is the only way to reserve a PS VR. Moreover, it perhaps won’t be too surprising if Sony eventually unveils some sort of mega bundle at a later date that includes a PlayStation console too.
In addition to playing immersive, 360-degree games, PS VR will feature a cinematic mode allowing users to broadcast traditional games and content on a virtual big screen within the headset.
When can I buy the PlayStation VR and how much will it cost? Known for their precision as well as their household devices, one thing that Sony is particularly famous for, but does not fall in the above mentioned category is that of the PlayStation.

PlayStation VR’s $399 price point is $200 cheaper than the Oculus Rift and $400 cheaper than the HTC Vive, both of which will be available in late March or early April.
