360-deg cameras and virtual reality devices

Technology giant Samsung’s new flagship smartphones – S7 and Galaxy S7 edge – are expected to hit the Indian market in the second week of March, sources said, as the company looks to bolster sales to buck the slowdown in smartphone industry growth. Edge UX, the advanced edge experience available on Galaxy S7 edge, increases efficiency by creating easy shortcuts to users’ most loved apps/features such as email, selfie mode, panorama mode or third party applications.

Some features include a 5.1-inch screen for the Galaxy S7 and a 5.5-inch screen for the Galaxy S7 Edge, a 5 MP front camera and 12 MP in the rear, with dual pixel image sensor. Meanwhile, the Gear 360 is compatible with other Samsung smart devices including the newly unveiled Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge, and Galaxy S6. Furthermore, you’re safe if your phone sits in water 1,5km deep for 30 minutes. Plus, you can increase the phone’s 32GB memory with a MicroSD card, which means more apps, more photos, and more video storage.

The SG7 now also supports micro-SD cards while the SG6 does not. Since it’s only been a few months, many have questioned whether there will be any major differences between the handsets.

Carriers including Telstra, Vodafone and Optus will start taking pre-orders for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge from February 26.

Specifically, Samsung showed off its Gear 360, a portable 360-degree camera with two 15-megapixel fisheye lenses facing back- to-back. Both the devices have a Quad HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. It has a QuadHD display with an Always-on display which lets you see the date and time along with all your notifications without having to unlock your device for the same. Samsung has added more power, better camera, and sharper display with tons of other new features. Although both run on different hardware and platform, there are some features that you’ll only get on the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge and not on Apple’s iPhones.
