Jischke said he called Vicki and told her to hold off on putting the duck down, he was “making feet right now”.
(WBAY) – Tucked in the corner of Mr. Jischke’s classroom is one of the coolest gadgets at South Park Middle School: a 3D printer. He’s set to join other ducks soon at a Wisconsin sanctuary. The new material was fitted to slip onto Phillip’s legs and took 36 hours to print, WBAY said.
Jason Jischke shows us, “It’s 3D modeling software, so you can actually manipulate it on the screen”.
Phillip was spotted by Wisconsin school teacher Vicki Rabe-Harrison in a picture and, saddened by his dried up feet, she chose to take him in.
Rabe-Harrison: “We both cried”.
Action 2 News was there as Phillip took his first steps with his new 3D printed feet on Friday and now – just three days later, he’s using them.
Phillip the Duck lost his feet to frostbite and was scheduled to be put down.
