Six inmates at an upstate New York prison have been taken to hospital following multiple drugs overdoses, reports suggest.

Longworth said a total of 26 inmates have been charged with promoting prison contraband this year.
The inmates were rushed to Westchester Medical Center, authorities say, after exhibiting symptoms of a drug overdose including vomiting.
Unusual is accused of being in possession of the remains of a burnt hand-rolled cigarette.
James Graziano, 30, from Mount Pleasant, N.Y., was accused of possessing a plastic bottle altered for use as a pipe, police said.
Mr. unusual was being held at the jail for a second-degree assault charge, according to Mr. O’Leary.
Calls to Legal Aid were not returned.
The investigation continues to determine what substance the inmates ingested, apparently by smoking it, and how they obtained it.
Police and jail officials are investigating how the drug got into the jail.
At 2:51 p.m. on Sunday, a corrections officer at the jail noticed an inmate shaking and displaying signs of “medical distress”, Mr. O’Leary said.

Pruyne said Sunday is a high visitation day, so that may have contributed to a visitor smuggling of illegal drugs into the jail, which is a felony crime. The sickened inmates were housed in blocks in the original facility, so the sweep was originating there with the rest of the jail to follow, he said.
