A bus carrying high school football players crashed as it left Denver International Airport, killing the driver and injuring 15 students and three coaches, police said.
Sgt. Mike Farr says investigators still don’t know what caused Chopper to drive directly into the pillar. The Denver Post reports that the football team from Legacy played Chino High School on Friday night in California. As the buses were leaving, one mysteriously turned around, heading back toward Terminal East’s passenger pickup area. Fifteen students were taken to the hospital. The Post reported that five patients in fair condition were taken to Children’s Hospital Colorado. The bus carried 28 students and four adults, airport spokeswoman Heath Montgomery said.
Ferdani said counselors will be available both at the high school and the district’s transportation center Monday.
There is a reported crash involving a school bus at Swindell Road near N. Galloway Road in Lakeland.
