The low price of gas is contributing to more people traveling on Thanksgiving weekend than any year since 2007, with an estimated 46.9 million people traveling more than 50 miles from home, according to AAA.

AAA expects almost 47 million people to travel for the Thanksgiving holiday this year.
That represents a slight increase of 0.6 percent compared with last year’s figures.
“Hopefully there are no issues”.
But not just the roads were busy, airports were filled with travelers but with extra security, too.
Thousands of travelers descended on Los Angeles International Airport Wednesday as the Thanksgiving travel season kicked into high gear, and passengers were met with plenty of security amid a heightened alert prompted by the terror attacks in Paris. In Lexington, it could be found for as low as $1.72 Wednesday night.
Gas industry expert Jeff Deatherage of Professional Energy Group said the reasoning behind the cheap gas is based on simple supply and demand. “So at the end of the day I’ll be fine”, said Areonna Benton. “That was out of the question”. More than 40 percent of flights were delayed during Thanksgiving week over the last three years, according to analysis from AirHelp.
Hamilton forecast that regular-grade gasoline next year will average $2.33 a gallon.
Trooper Mike Kindhart with the Illinois State Police says it’s important to do what you can inside your vehicle to limit the chances of being in a crash.
In the West, drivers faced fresh snowfall in California’s Sierra Nevada and rain in the San Francisco Bay Area.
“Americans largely prefer auto travel because it provides more control over expense, trip distance and duration”, said Jenkins.
Peoria’s Airport Director says the Sunday following the holiday will be the busiest day all week followed by Saturday.

Anyone who is trekking to one of the major airports should consider an additional 50 minutes or more driving and that is just arriving at the airport let along trying to negotiate through all the hordes of security. The airport can not go into details of changes for security reasons.
