49ers’ Brooks may miss Sunday’s game due to sister’s death

49ers coach Jim Tomsula announced Wednesday that Brooks had left the team for “family reasons”. Brooks will attend her memorial service in Louisiana, then return to the team. Those arrangements are still pending.

Krsunthia Brooks died on Wednesday.

The 49ers withheld comment out of respect for Brooks and the family.

Ahmad Brooks, an AP second-team All-Pro in 2013 and 2012, has 12 tackles and a sack through four matches.

That leaves Lynch, rookie Eli Harold and third-year veteran Corey Lemonier to primarily handle the pass-rushing chores against Manning, who had five passes intercepted and was sacked twice in the 49ers’ 16-10 road win last November. 16.

Four days later, Harold offered a weak smile as he recalled his near-sack of Aaron Rodgers in a 17-3 loss to Green Bay. “Our backups are good, too, but Ahmad to other teams is one of those veterans they come into a game strategizing against”.

“Every week, it’s going to be different because the (Packers’) West Coast offense is different than the offenses we faced earlier”, Mangini said. “So I don’t think it’s really going to affect us besides affecting us a little bit emotionally because of the circumstances”. However, 49ers defensive coordinator Eric Mangini indicated Brooks could be in action.

On Sunday, rookie outside linebacker Eli Harold tore into the Packers’ backfield, sized up one of the game’s top quarterbacks in anticipation of his first career sack and … whiffed.

“He’s really talented, he’s smart, he’s tough, he’s got a high-motor”, Mangini said of Lynch.

If Staley can’t play Sunday night, the 49ers’ options could include shifting Alex Boone from left guard, or perhaps they summon Trent Brown and Brandon Thomas to make their respective National Football League debuts. Receiver Quinton Patton, who remains in the NFL’s concussion protocol, also returned to practice in a non-contact jersey.
