The San Francisco 49ers have yet to name their starting quarterback for their first preseason game.

Kaepernick will be limited in practice on Friday after taking Thursday off, but the San Francisco 49ers are hopefully that he’ll play in the preseason opener on Sunday.

When things began to heat up, though, it seemed that this competition was bound to be much closer than many people expected it to be.

The sessions require some pre-planning with head coaches coordinating schedules and offensive and defensive coordinators trading ideas and scripts to make sure the practices go as smoothly as possible.
With Gabbert remaining the 49ers’ starting passer until the season concluded, some thought it was time for them to part ways with Kaepernick. “We’ll kind of figure out the game plan as far as reps and all that in a few days”. “It’ll be a lot more two-back formations, stuff we need to see to get ready for the season”.

Kaepernick found his success in 2012 season when he played for 13 games leading the 49ers into the NFC Championship Game and defeated the Atlanta Falcons 28-24. The fans and media may be down on Kaepernick now, but after a few games of seeing him revert back to his old form, all of that would change.
