49ers defense says it knew Rams plays in Week 1

After playing poorly in a season-opening defeat against the San Francisco 49ers, Keenum said Wednesday that he needed to trust himself and not overthink decisions.

“The credit doesn’t go to me, it goes to our defense and defensive staff”, Kelly said. “I was seeing things that weren’t there”.

Keenum played efficiently during exhibitions, and he appeared to start off smoothly in the first few plays against the 49ers.

This might be the single-most expressive image of the Rams’ season-opening loss to the 49ers.

“That wasn’t what we expected, certainly not what I expected for the first game back in L.A.”, coach Jeff Fisher said. “We just never capitalized on it”. “That’s what I’m going to do”.

If you’ve been buying into the chatter that’s circling the National Football League, then it’s easy to see why they feel this way. “It just put more pressure on the defense”. “I can’t make mistakes like that and hurt my team”.

Of course, this is only one game and it’s far too soon to decide how Goff is as a pro-level quarterback. He caught four of the 12 passes thrown his way for 13 yards and added 2 more on an end-around.

And Keenum must rebound from his performance.

Snapshot: The Rams were hoping to start with a bang in their first game since moving to Los Angeles, but came out with a whimper. “You overthink stuff because you don’t want to miss stuff”.

But Fisher is not ready to decide on a starting quarterback.

“Definitely a different perspective”, he said.

The best-case scenario for Goff would come as a backup in Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks, and even that is uncertain.

Did you catch any Monday Night Football this week? “So everybody knows where I stand”. I’m going to trust.my protection, my mechanics, my rules, my footwork, and trust what I see.

It’s hard to escape the majesty and connections of high school football in Texas and it showed as these players went from performing on Friday nights to nationally televised games on Monday at the highest level of football. Even if Gabbert and Smith are only able to connect on one or two deep balls here or there throughout the game, there will be many more holes for Hyde to take advantage of.

Donald’s tantrum, and the decision of Robert Quinn and Kenny Britt to hold up a fist during the Star-Spangled Banner, were welcome distractions from the central issue. “We didn’t convert (fourth downs) and we weren’t very good on third downs”, Redskins coach Jay Gruden said.
